Make sure that you thoroughly vacuum your carpet area.
Then use a little baking soda and allow it to settle in your carpet for a couple of hours.

You can purchase scented green carpet care baking soda for your carpet so it can produce a nice fresh scent. Then vacuum up the baking soda.
